View Full Version : Perspective on FC3 warnings, errors, crashes, hangs

Hi all.

I'm experiencing a few more problems with FC3 than I would like, and naturally I'm going through the logs to try to see what traces of problems are left there. Mostly I have lots of warnings on shutdown, including Nautilus and Bonobo warnings (I run KDE, so the Nautilus warning was a surprise the first time this n00b saw it), but I don't find any residue for this in the logs. Sometimes I have system hangs after I've closed KDE and given init 0, and there's generally no trace of these. Usually the problems don't repeat themselves, so I'm not sure if (1) the system's noting them and fixing them or (2) they're one-offs, or perhaps unknown phenomena (3), (4), etc. I've done a lot of DIY with this machine, mostly the right way but with a mistake or two along the way, and of course I'm worried I've destabilized it somehow.

Is there some log I should be looking at that's not in the KDE System Logs app, that will catch these shutdown warnings? Can I add that log to the KDE System Logs app? What warnings or errors can generally be tolerated, and which types should I deal with immediately?

KDE 3.3.1-2.12.FC3
2.6.11-1.27_FC3
x86_64 (HP zv5000 series)

Thanks in advance.
