I have a problem with giving my users write permissions on my samba server. I have sort of a screwy setup where I have a public share in /home/shares/bu_onen1 (//SAMBA_SERVER//bu_onen1) and user home directories in /home/shares/bu_onen1/bu/users8/USERNAME (//SAMBA_SERVER/USERNAME). When a user opens //SAMBA_SERVER/USERNAME they can write to their home directory fine, but when they go to //SAMBA_SERVER//bu_one1/bu/users8/USERNAME they can not write to their own directory. I'd like to get this straightened out because I need to set this share up as a network drive.

BTW, users are authenticating with an Active Directory Server through winbind.

Have you checked the folder permissions?

I know that FC4 (if that is what you are using) had some conflict problems with SElinux. For instance the default install of SElinux disabled samba home dir shares. Have you gone into the selinux settings for samba and enabled the options?? Or did you choose to disable SElinux all together??
