I am relatively new to Linux. I know enough to be dangerous, but Ive noticed that on my FC3 system that the memory usage is huge (about 800MB on average). I have 1GB of RAM so it doesnt use swap space...yet. I have never noticed Linux using this much RAM before. I have tried running GNOME, KDE, and XFCE to see if I notice a difference, but there is no noticable change. Anyone have a clue?

Thanks!!

FC uses muvh ram so that it doesn't have to use swap unless absolutely necessary, so it just reserves the ram for when it needs it, nothing to worry about. It is default behaviour (at least on fedora).
