Sorry, you don't appear to have DNS working correctly.

Nope, no connection.
Please note that some ISP's wil lblock port 80. In httpd.conf, add these 2 lines:
Listen 8080
Listen 8000
This allows people to access your site on port 8080 and 8000 (The 2 common http-alternatives)
Eg, like this:
http://adrian-is.a.geek.org:8000
or
http://adrian-is.a.geek.org:8080
Also, you'll need a static IP, and port forewarding in ur router.

OK my set up so far
I have set my router to port forward on 80 to 192.168.1.3
I have set listen in the http.conf file for apache as the following
192.168.1.3:80
I have also restarted apache
And my dyndns account is pointing to the correct ip address
Last time my server worked with this set up. today it is not and I dont know why. It frustrating because I am new to this and I was so happy when I got this working last time.
Just wondered if you could run through some basic checks with me.
Lastly is there a way of me being able to check that my site or apache website exists and that people can view from outside the network
It can be viewed from inside the network by going to 192.168.1.3 or by typing http://adrian-is.a.geek.org I set this up in the hosts file.
Port 80 is open as well.

I am such a bloody plank. I was scratching my head getting very frustrated as to why it was not working. Now this is the 2nd time I have set up a basic server I know how to do it in the future again.
I am going to make notes on it now so I dont lose it.

Good stuff. Well done mate.
Nothing more frustrating that a few charachters typed in incorrectly :) Caused me plenty of headaches in the past.

Once you get Apache working properly on Linux you then appreciate the power that Linux has.
I dont know why either but just using Fedora Core 3 & 4 I forget that I am using Linux whereas in the past after a few days I would start nit picking and end going back to my Windows. Since they put Firefox as standard its got even better and some of the development programs are great.
I am hoping that in a few years there will be a few more decent games on it and that Dreamweaver works without a hitch or paint problem through Crossover because sad as I may be I love dreamweaver for web development and it is something I miss on Linux desperately.
If I compare Linux to what it was 2 year ago its changed so much and like I say I wonder in 2-3 years how much better it will be. Yes I still have to odd niggle or two now but I at the end of the day what you I have with Linux is a spirit for computing again a bit like what people had with the commodore Amiga.
Im afraid that there is no spirit with Windows at all, it sucks and regular PC users dont have a clue about the alternatives available.

Adrian i a geek. I would like to throw my hat into the geek club as well if I may be so bold!
I have had a apache server set up and running in the past, but I am using a VOIP gateway/firewall now for my telephone system, and it is complicated to change the firewall and port forwarding setups! I will figure it out soon, and get my site back up as well...
