Jabber!

In user CP, I can set my IM contact information: ICQ, AIM, Yahoo! and... Microsoft :(. I don't see why Jabber is not there - this is a forum about free software, so I guess most people visiting FedoraForum.org prefer Jabber, not those four mentioned.

Adding the option might be a good idea.

I suppose I would prefer Jabber if it was universally adopted by everyone on my contact list. But that's not likely to happen in this reality. So I'll be staying with the protocol hosted by a large Redmond-based software developer.

Heh, I agree with you, partially ;)

I'm currently trying to persuade most of the people on my contact list to use Jabber (with various levels of success) so I can dump ICQ for ever...

If someone asks me to contact him via that Redmond thingie, I usualy send him to, ehm, well, it depends where I send him, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't like to go to any of that places :)

I don't suppose we'd ever taken much thought to this, after all we're just using a standard forum tool: vBulletin.

I don't know much about vBulletin, but I believe there is a way of adding more fields to Use CP / Edit profile (there are currently Biography, Location, Interests, Occupation, etc.).

Or maybe you could just replace MSN with Jabber ;) (it would be enough to change the icon and a few strings in the language file or whatever it uses, wouldn't it?)
