Sound card

Alright this is a little odd

In the installation process the sound card worked, once i get into fedora it stops. I get nothing in the test sound in the control panel.

I would list my card but i dont know how to detect the name.

Any ideas?

have you tryed ajusting the volume control on the desktop. it is set to 0 by default.

on mine i had to use the alsamixer console app and unmute everything and turn all volumes all the way up. once i finally got sound i figured out which setting was keeping it from playing. using the soundmixer applet or kmix didnt do it.

Sometimes you have to mute certain channels to get other ones to work... try opening up kmix and muting the Surround and Center channels (or maybe the Front channel if you actually have surround sound).

Same card as mine. In 'alsamixer' make sure "line jack sense" is off, "headphone jack sense" is off, and "external amplifier" is on

Do you mean you have fixed the problem, or that you still have the problem? If you still have the problem, then use the "M" key in alsamixer to turn on.
