...not in WindozeXP. I know it's weird to post an XP question here, but everyone in the Windoze forums is going to tell me this is a Linux issue, and I know it's not.
...in Linux, but hangs in XP.
The problem is a video card I installed after I set up my system to dual boot. Linux (FC3, vanilla ISO) identified the card (a PNY Nvidia GeForce 5500, I think) and the system just worked. No problems, nothing. I didn't have to even install any drivers. I don't use Windows often, so I didn't even think about there being a problem with XP. But when I boot into XP I briefly see the XP flying window logo, then it just turns black and that's that. The hard disk light flickers irregularly, but it never gets beyond that.
I know the hardware is working fine under Linux, which makes me confident this is "just" a driver issue. Once they're updated I'll be all set...I hope. What I need help with is how to actually accomplish this. Ideally, I can use Linux to mount the Windows partition and replace the old driver with a new one (I just downloaded several)...but I've no idea where to go or what files to replace. I don't even know if it will work---will it? Has anyone out there had a similar problem and found a good solution?
I've been a Linux user so long (since 1995) that I've all but forgotten how to do anything but point and click in Windows. Can anyone help out or suggest a good plan of action (with fairly clear instructions?)
Many thanks in advance!!!
