This is the first Linux desktop what I like concerning fonts and clear
desktop out the box. Kde and Gnome look very nice, I am a Kde user.
Kde and Gnome are also starting fast.
I am using a old computer Dell p2 400 mhz, but still going well.

i had RHEL4 running on a pII-400/256mb/10gb up at work and besides being a little (ok.. a LOT) slow using KDE it operated just fine. Kind of a novelty though becuase it was really too slow to do any actual work on, in my opinion.

Hard to believe, but hopefully true. :)I did it better (or worse) :) I had a pII 350 MHz with 192 MB ram, 4 GB HD and using kde (it was slow, but not that slow, I could work on it very good)

When did core 4 come out? I just burned core 3 a few days ago to discs. :/ What a waste of discs. lol...

Not quite yet, it's been extended a week (https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-devel-list/2005-June/msg00281.html).

I have got FC 3 running very well, a little slow of course on my old lap top.
Gateway SL 2550, 330 mhz and 128mb ram. It had a 4gb hard disk originally but I have replaced it with a larger drive. Thought about getting more ram, but being 5 to 6 years old the ram is too expensive, or so I am told anyway. It's nice to have an old machine to play with, it's easy to learn when you do not have to worry about breaking something.

Well, if we are going to compete with who is using the oldest machine, I have run Fedora Core 3 on Celeron 300 Mhz, but with 384 MB of RAM, and it goes fine. :) If you run Windows 2000 on this machine it sure goes better, but let's don't forget how much more you get by default with Fedora. Windows 2000 stuck with more than 20 applications begins to lag and startup time is hard time for him. I think the Fedora team has done a good job. :)

I just installed FC4-t3 onto our computer lab (12 computers) via a network install from http (which was a first for me). We were originally going to wait, but my father insisted that we do it anyways, because of a conference that is coming up and because he felt it was stable enough.
It looks really nice, I think some of the attendees will be impressed when they come in to check their email and do web browsing. I themed it as much as I could, too, the only thing I didn't tweak was the RHGB.
The only drawback is that somehow OpenOffice got missed when I made the kickstart, so I will have to install it via yum (sure would be nice if there was a way to make the computer look at http, which we installed from, before asking for the CD).

Gosh, what a meanie old daddy you have. :)
Becareful with the Gcc4 stuf and don't install or OO0 will not run or install. Version *\4.0.0.8\* and 9 up to 7 packages.
I installed mysql late, got it up with an inoc logging db and a regular one. but the inoc sayd access denied.
Installed http late, it will not startup and no log or message anywhere.
So I tried Subverion, created a repo, a projet and the import failed, accessed denied. It was in my user account?
I can't think of any thing else to screw up so maybe I'll download Solarus 10 this week. ;)

I have been runing a web and email server with FC3 on a PII 400 for a long time. It works great. But I just recently upgraded to an AMD 64 system about 2 weeks ago and wow is it fast!
