I just plugged in an Orinoco Gold 802.11b PCMCIA card into my Gateway 450SX4 running FC3 and it installed Orinoco drivers, which worked great right away. I connected to several hotspots without trouble. Then I used apt-get to install a bunch of wireless tools.

Now when I restart the machine, it no longer loads the Orinoco driver, it loads eth1 as "wireless" in the divices tab and in the hardware tab it lists it as Intel corp. 82801CAM PRO/100 VE (LOM) Ethernet Controller

I have no idea why this is suddenly occuring. If anyone knows why this happens and how I can get the Orinoco Gold drivers to load again, please post. Your knowledge is highly regarded.

Fixed it. I'm surfing from my beautiful rural Minnesota yard - it's 75 degrees and sunny! All I had to do was delete the incorrect 'eth1' entry from the hardware tab of network settings. Then I rebooted and it loaded the Orinoco drivers. After that all I had to do was add a wireless device in the devices tab and it rocks the net without wires!

Thanks for reading this.
