View Full Version : Possible Incompatibility: FC4T3 and TeamSpeak2

Just finished updating my FC4T3 install--sound, net, video all seem to work fine. In fact, GnomeMeeting works fine. But when I installed TeamSpeak2 (http://www.goteamspeak.com/), no dice. It will connect to a server but no sound (receive or transmit). I do have the OSS emulation drivers running and sox works, so I'm a bit stumped. TS2 works fine under FC3.
Anyone have it working by chance?
Someone have a few minutes to try it?
There will be a few (thousand) upset gamers when FC4 is released if this turns out to be a real problem. :(

You might want to subscribe and post to the Fedora-test list to keep other users informed about this. Fedora Project is exclusively made up of open source software and wouldnt support random proprietary programs but it is general a good idea to communicate your issues to other members using test releases

Agreed. Just looking to see if anyone else can verify my claim before speaking up. I know the guys upstream have enough on their plate as it is now, so I want to be certain before giving them more to look at. ;)

What sound device do you have, Dog-One?
I have a Sound Blaster Live Value and it looks completly different in the volume control than in FC3.
No mater how I set the programs it will not so much as ding.
Is this just the test status or is there a (mixer, PCM, Swith, ???) that needs defined?

SJI'm doing my testing on a fairly generic 440BX laptop (Micron Transport ZX 500 PIII). It uses the snd_es1968 module. The new mixer looks pretty cool compared to the older (FC3) style mixer, but to be sure all is set properly, I'm using alsamixer from a shell prompt.
I'm quite certain ALSA and OSS emulation is working properly--GnomeMeeting works sweet and sox works. TeamSpeak2 is showing the following in the log file (TSClient.log):18-05-05 21:35:36,4066,ERROR,All,TOSSioThread.execute,Excep tion EOSSException: OSS error in InputSound: Invalid argumentThis error is repeated thousands of times. The "Invalid Argument" leads me to believe there is an API change in the OSS emulation that TS2 can't deal with.
I came across this thread (http://forum.teamspeak.org/showthread.php?t=22090) that may shed some light on ALL the issues with TS2 and FC4. Though the issue mentioned there, I'm not having.

When you said 440BX, a bunch tapes changed in my head.
The default install had wave muted.
And the volumes where too low. I had set many mixer items to show up according to some search find.
So with alsa-mixer (in color) on the screen and then it was a matter of click and try.
PC sounds started right away, music player about blew me out of my chair. :)
Well, FC4 does play sounds. O-O
