Anybody know why the Pan newsreader was dropped from FC4? What replaces it?
On a related topic, I notice that the ncftp ftp client has also been dropped (I'm still on FC2). What was the reasoning in replacing ncftp with lftp?
Thanks.

There are a lot of eye openers on the list. I looked and could not find a replacement for Pan. I like pan, but have switched to knode.
There are a couple more items which I find more disturbing. Ftpcopy is very small and is an excellant tool. Huh?
On a more significant note is the drop of xmms and grip. I know it will be available from 3rd party repositories, but these are mainstream products which most people use that are into music. With the lack of default support for certain formats, I do not think moving Fedora down a path of limiting multimedia choice is a great idea.

All of those have duplicates, which I believe is why they are being removed. In most cases the package will go to Extras instead. Extras has duplicates of Core. (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Extras_2fCoreVsExtras)
