I've recently installed FC1 and am trying to get on the internet with an onboard LAN (I think the chip is 'the MCP intergrated NVIDIA MAC +Realtek 8201BL PHY Fast Ethernet controller') but it just wasnt in the list in the wizard. have tryed installing drivers but it doesnt find it. im pretty much a newbie and any help would be very much apretiated.

FC1 is deprecated now, FC3 would have been a better choice.

Are you sure your ethernet is not already recognized? What does this say?

ifconfig -a

Same way you installed FC1, presumably CDs. So what did

ifconfig -a

say?

Well you are right, no sign of any eth0. I think the simplest way forward is to update to FC3 and see if your network adapter is autodetected. If it isn't, then we can try to help install it by hand if it is supported.

Also, if you know the make/model of your motherboard we could determine the true type of ethernet adapter and load the driver.
