Hello All

I have a working installation of Fedora Core Test 3 on /dev/hdb, and had a NTFS partition on /dev/sda2

I trashed the NTFS partition (Gates goes out!) and installed FC4 Test 3 on it.

Installation went good (had to manually partition tough)

I noticed several improvements such as the graphical bootloader now correctly handles dualhead displays.

Here comes my problem:

up2date does not work! Yum does not work! install apt-get....rmp does not work.

And for some reason after 20minutes, my /home partition got read-only.

Just for the record I don't care about yum, rhn, or up2date, but I do care about apt-get because I have been using that for ages (maried to a cron job)

During the process of trying to *fix* some things, I removed the contents of /usr/lib/rpm

Other thing, since some time, I am getting this message in my logs:

Failed to fetch http://ayo.ie.freshrpms.net/fedora/linux/3/i386/RPMS.updates/util-linux-2.12a-24.2.i386.rpm 403 Forbidden

Anybody know what is going on there?

Thank you for your kindness

Ok I understand.

Can anybody help me get rhn and yum to work then please?

And for some reason after 20minutes, my /home partition got read-only.I would stop worrying about everything else and worry about this. Have a look in /var/log/messages for HDD-related IO problems.
