Tell me why i should use Linux over Windows?

Hello. I am an experienced Windows user and i would like to know the advantages of using Linux over Windows? Name them all please...

Also do you think i will get an performance increase on my hardware? AMD 3400+64bit, 1GB ram, 9800pro.....

People choose their operating system for many different reasons. And what makes one "better" to one individual doesn't necessarily hold true for another. Why not give an honest effort to learn Linux and decide for yourself?

It's not even a question of "better", they are both quality operating systems -- with differences. For example: they differ in cost, target demographic, features, etc.

This type of question really serves no useful purpose. Why not just use Google to research the two?

more then likely there wouldn't be much advantage for you to use Linux. Obviously you don't want to use the command line--your system is a 64 bitter and will have to be tweaked and tuned with the command line, cuz the more then likely needed commands are only availible using it.
However if you would like to try FC linux, and give it a fair shot, and learn some basic stuff using the command line--there would be several reasons to try linux over windows--or dual booting Win and Linux even.
List all of the reasons??? hummmmm let me count the ways--Linux vs Win--it's a personal choice and debatable for most of the reasons anyone could state---all I could say is try it--if ya don't like it--remove it.......
Don't expect miracles, don't expect perfection--cuz the 64 bitter distro is still under developement as is just about all Linux distro's.
The computer playing feild is constantly moving--if ya stand still very long--ya ain't in the game anymore!

You may also want to read the latest issue of TUX Magazine (http://www.tuxmagazine.org). It had quite a lot articles about why to choose linux and some other good articles to newcomers.

I suggest you to also visit The Fedora FAQ (http://www.fedorafaq.org) and Fedora News (http://www.fedoranews.org).

I am sure that you will find linux charming when you get more familiar with it. Just don't give up.

I work with people who use windows 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and most of them are clueless, other than starting their ms office application. It just amazes me how this is possible. I would not recommend linux to anyone who is not will to read and experiment. Most window user would be better off switching to Mac.

Interesting post, Yeah i'm definately willing to read/learn about linux. It seem's great that there is hundreds of people (just on these forums alone) that are willing to help you out and to try and solve a problem.

If you never used linux b4, download one of the live cds. No installtion required, runs entirely off the cd.
