I just installed FC3 on my PC and currently am unable to connect to the internet.
I have a wirless connection to a router.
What do I need to do to get it to work?
Thanks,
Kent

That depends on what kind of wireless card you have.
Run /sbin/lspci if it is a PCI/PC Card type fella or /sbin/lsusb if USB, see if you can see the wireless card mentioned with a chipset name. That'll guide you for the next step, if any.

ok. Running ./lspci tells me it's a BCM4303 802.11b Wireless Lan Controller (rev 02).
Now what do I do?

search the posts for ndiswrapper... you'll need a windows driver (bcmwl5.inf or something similar) and upgrade your kernel to a 16k stack. A bit of work, but I got my BCM4306 up fine. Theres a bit of extra work to get WPA encryption to work (need wpa_suppliment) and i actually havent been able to get WEP keys working properly either (mostly because i have the passphrase version of the key from my landlord and you need the HEX version grrrr).

Fine,
How do I manage to do all of that when I am unable to connect to the internet?

Is the other PC near the Linux one? In this case you can download from the other PC and use a local network connection / floppy / CD to transfer files. Or, everyone on Apollo 13 can just run out of oxygen.

Can't allow that to happen.
I was onto that before the response and was looking for the site that downloads the FC3 version for ndis wrapper.
Can you direct me to the web site where I can downlload it?
Thanks,
