Hi all,

I am trying to burn a DVD using cdrecord on my FC3.
The burner is a Plextor 716A, which supposedly handles
both DVD+R and DVD-R.

Anyway, I have managed to burn a CDR without any problems.
However, when I try to burn a DVD+R, cdrecord just quits after
a while.

I suspect that it might be something related with the media itself,
because when I place an empty DVD on the drive, I get constant
messages on /var/log/messages:

ATAPI device hdb:
Error: Not ready -- (Sense key=0x02)
Unable to recover table of contents -- (asc=0x57, ascq=0x00)
The failed "Read Cd/Dvd Capacity" packet command was:
"25 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 "

Now, are these messages normal, or is there something fishy really going on?

Thanks in advance for your help!
Jean

You are better off using growisofs to burn DVDs. This page http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/ is well worth taking the time to read.
