Will this release be available from yum? If not, should I first uninstall my previous Firefox before installing this new one?
Thanks.

Sorry for the stupid question I've made. I had missed the end of Chung message saying that a RPM file will be available soon.

i've installed it but it still launches as 1.0.2, can't find any link or configure file to change that and firefox shell script under the 1.0.3 folder does nothing.....still launches 1.0.2. I wonder if this is just a patch to 1.0.2 but version number did not change......

RPM version has not been released from Fedora Project yet.
We are expecting it will be released by Monday.

I observed the same behavior (installed 1.0.3, however 1.0.2 was still being called). Logged out and back in and 1.0.3 was then being called. As a newbie to linux I am just presuming that the rpm loading process is updating a shell that is setting an environment variable used to call Firefox. When I tried chasing down the environment varialble I ran into a dead end. In any event, as I mentioned logging out and back in may take care of it for you.

You may have both versions installed in different directories...you may want to update your icon to point to the new install...then remove the old firefox directory...the profile in your home directory will remain with your settings and bookmarks.
The installer will automatically detect the old version and let you remove it, if you are installing to the same directory.

Here is the direct link:
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/3/i386/firefox-1.0.3-1.3.1.i386.rpm
You should really use "yum update" from your local mirror site.

any repositories i need to add to be able to update it via yum, apart from the default?

Default yum configuration points to your local mirror sites where it might not have up-to-date yum repositories.
It should be a matter of time (a day or so) before your local mirror sites will have the latest firefox.

If Firefox 1.0.3 requires desktop-file-utils, you should install it first.
# yum install desktop-file-utils
