View Full Version : GRUB reboot loop--can't get to menu

System info:
Tyan Tiger K8W
Dual Opteron 246 processors
2GB ECC PC3200
Seagate 300GB SATA HDD on /dev/sda, using the sil_sata driver (detected automatically).
Windows 2003 on /dev/sda1
FC3 on /dev/sda2

I just finished a clean install of Fedora Core 3 (the 32-bit edition) on my dual-processor workstation, and GRUB won't start--I can't even get to the menu or prompt. It just spontaneously reboots. I get the same results when GRUB is installed to /dev/sda and when it's installed to /dev/sda2 and launched via NTLOADER.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, I'll give it a shot when I get back to work on Monday.

Curiously, GRUB installed and ran perfectly when I put it on /dev/fd0 (a floppy disk) rather than /dev/sda... so I've been using a boot loader floppy for the last little while.
