hi,
I can see my 80 GB external USB connected HardDIsk through the hardware browser. So i know that it has been detected
The path that it is giving me does not exist in the /dev/ folder......
How do i gain access to it (view its contents) ?
The drive is formatted using FAT32
thnx

Use the second part of this thread (http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?p=145752) to see if you can mount it.

seemd this only happens when HOTPLUGGING the harddisk.
rebooting with the harddisk plugged works fine (/dev/sda and /dev/sda1 are created).
but after hotUNplugging (which works fine ;) the harddisk never appears again...
hope anyone can tell how to fix this in the hal/hotplug/udev - FC4 system!

There aren't /dev/sdXY devices?
If you run
sfdisk -l
what do you get?
There's anything automounted in /media?

no, nothing in /dev.
this is because of 2.6.13!!! everything is fine with std FC4 (2.6.12-1.1447_FC4) and 2.6.12.4. but things are wrong with 2.6.13 and 2.6.13.1. i've read that it could have sthg to do with the (old) udev-058-1 (which is ok for 2.6.12).
