I've been away from these forums for a while whilst I concentrate on learning to fiddle XML with PHP which doesn't seem to be a topic here. Anyway, when I get back I find that there has been a row, one of the results of which was the Reputation system has been disabled. When I first joined the forum as a newcomer to linux I found those reps a good starting point to sort out which advice I could expect to be sound and which to research. Along the way I got to know who not only gave sound advice, but who gave it in a way I could understand. I also started sharing what I learnt and last I knew I was a 76. Also, I found that rep points were less important as I got to know the poeple here. My point is that when one is a newcomer who is a linux newbe as well, rep points are a good way to lead one's self to good advice. Admins, once you find that the row has cooled off, IMHO restoring the reps might be a good idea.

Mmmm...

Was there a poll to vote? :) (to disable or not the repution points)

Repution is good although sometimes some members had some problems...

My believe is that an Admin should initiate a poll. If this is a wrong idea, then sorry.

Have a nice day!

The reputation system, which I actually championed, has been discontinued. The discussion occured in the Staff forum and a decision was made by an Administrator to kill it. Unless an Administrator wishes to explain the "issue" further, that's about as much as I'm going to say on it.
