Hey everyone. I found this laptop at Xtreme Notebooks.com
http://www.xtremenotebooks.com/index.php?section=specs&model_id=810
The laptop claims to be Linux friendly, and even does NOT include Windows!!
The specs look really good for a >$1,400 machine.
Anyone bought one of these?
Oh did I mention its a 64-bit beast? :)

1400-1700 is a pretty good price.
but with those high specs, battery life will be non-existant, this is a "desktop replacement" machine.

According to the specs the average battery life is 2 hours. Its not Centrino technology, but its better than the 90minutes I've been getting from my laptop nowadays.
I do think the machine is classified as a desktop replacement. Its not the lightest thing in the world either, but not as bad as some other recent heavy weights

Office Depot, $630 after mail-in rebates.
(though it took me a bit to get the wireless connection configured)/
I thought it was a good deal....

Turn offs: ATI graphics card and I doubt that Built-in 56K Modem works "on the fly" on Linux.

It would be nice to find an equivalent with a Nvidia video chipset, but I can't find one.

I have one - it's worth the price in my opinion. I wrote an article on it for The Jem Report. It covers installing Fedora Core 3 and all the goodies like hardware 3D and video decoding. I just upgraded the memory to 512M ($47) - makes it run really well.
