No sound for the life of me

WEll my problem is that i had sound using alsa to install it. When i installed it i think i installed sb16 instead of emu10k1. But it worked wasnt that great but it worked. Then all of a sudden it went out. I tried to install it both ways, and i have made no progress what so ever. Any suggestions are welcome im jus wondering if i should just reinstall FC3 and start all over. That would be the last resort since i barely got FRc3 installed because of my Sata drive.

Since it was working at one point and then suddenly stopped, I'm wondering if you've installed KDE and have gone into it? If so, K-mix over-rides the Gnome sound settings and k-mix settings are almost muted by default. You would have to go in and maximize everything there, then adjust for best sound quality afterwards.

im usung gnome. and when i run soundcard detection it tells me no cards are detected. So im pretty much stuck with this problem. I dont like to give up but ive tried to figure out other problems with linux, until i find a definitie solution or a definitie installation process for SB Live on FC3.
