Use the 1.0.8 drivers found at

http://www.alsa-project.org

Don't waste your time with the 1.5beta drivers found on the intel site as of this writing. They're just about useless.

So you are saying after installing the 1.0.8 version your sound now works? If so I am sure its going to help others... but did you do anything special to make them work?

Other than making sure that the BIOS were update to date. No. Downloaded the archive. ran the 'configure' script that came with it, ran 'make', then ran 'make install' as root and shutdown the box and then booted it up again.
