I've been going through a rough past couple of weeks trying to get a couple of boxes of mine upgraded from Fedora Core 2 to 3 (see link in signature for the start of all of it). I've tried doing yum upgrade, upgrade with discs, then doing a clean install.

I've finally got Fedora Core 3 to install, but when it gets to the login screen, my mouse will continue to work, but the keyboard won't do anything. I can't turn any of the 'lock' keys on and doesn't respond to any of the other keys either.

I've tried multiple keyboards via PS2 and USB and they all don't work under Fedora Core 3. When I go to shut the machine off, I get the below text scrolling on the screen really fast...

hdd: status error: status=0x00 { }
hdd: status error: error0x80LastFailedSense 0x08

Anyone have any ideas?

I have a box not much different other than mobo.
I would try to update the bios.
After, set the bios so the usb boot is disabled and any usb keyboard is off (use ps2 mouse and keyboard).
(Read the release notes on the bios)

Also, I would run the seagate diagnostic software for the diskdrive to make sure it is all good.

And tune down any overclocking setting to the regular settings.
Make sure you bring up the bios before using the boot up process to make sure the drives are there, boot order, other settings review.

check you drive geometry in the bios for lba (not auto) or 63 sectors,16 heads,nnnnn cyls

1) Found the disc utilities you found, drives checked out fine.
2) BIOS is still set to default settings other than boot device order
3) Upgraded bios to next bios release and computer wouldn't boot past bios screen. **

** - Called Outpost.com and have a new board on the way as of this morning.

I think I'll just stick with Fedora Core 2 on these boxes for now.
