I've been holding steady with Fedora Core 2 as I've got a book specific to it. I'm really anxious to install Core 3 now though.

The topics in the book that I need to work on (because I'm a screaming noob) are as follows:

The Filesystem
The Shell
Managing User Accounts
Security
Advanced System Administration
Rebuilding the Linux Kernel
Managing Your System with Perl

I'm hoping that these above topics will not be Core 2 specific and will be the same thing on Core 3. I'm about to re-build my system as per Miles Brennan's HOW TO (http://www.brennan.id.au/) and am thinking that I should load up Core 3. I'm also at 84.0% of the Core 3 ISOs download via bittorrent. :D

I just want to be sure that I'm not going to install Core 3 and render my Core 2 book usless.
