I really like Fedora a lot. I liked version 1.0 a lot and version 3.0 has performed great for me as a desktop linux computing workstation at home. I downloaded version 4.0 test release and I was very disappointed. One of the most innovative window managers out there, XFCE4.2, had been removed! I want it back! I think this was a big mistake. Having used KDE, then Gnome, and now XFCE4.2 I can confidently say that I felt XFCE4.2 was a perfect match of speed, power and ease of use for Fedora. I recently installed XFCE 4.2 manually on FC4 to get back the functionality I lost. Why was this decision made?

I've read today (on a german news page) that they will let out some stuff. The reason is that they do not want to have more than 4 cd images. Alls the other stuff will be moved to this fedora extras thing.
But I do not know if this is true.

Just point yum to a repository that has XFCE and install it. It's not that big of a deal.
Nobody wants to see a 20 CD distribution that contains every package ever available for Linux. It would get too confusing.
But if/when you find one you like, there is nothing stopping you downloading and installing it.

That's what I hated about SuSE. "It comes with 3 million programs!!" So what? I don't need 300 text editors and 42 media players and 23 web browsers. And I don't want to spend 6 months testing them all trying to figure out which is best. Just give me the ONE best program of each kind. Firefox, Thunderbird, Gnome, OpenOffice. If I don't like an individual program I will go search the net and find a replacement.
