Does anyone know of a driver that will work for a Lexmark Z55 in Fedora Core 3? I downloaded one from the Lexmark Linux site for RedHat [CJLZ55LE-CUPS-1.0-1.TAR.GZ] but my OS does not understand the install commands on the "readme". I get "command not found". I am a newbie and coud use some help on this as well a couple of other problems. Thanks,
Buster99.

It looks like Lexmark stopped supporting the printer in the Redhat 7.2 time frame (2001), from their driver download (http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:339:0:0&emeaframe=&fileID=484) site. You may want to think about switching to a printer supported by CUPS. Ideally, getting a printer with PostScript built in will make you independent of manufacturer's drivers, but you will pay more for the privilege.

The Linuxprinting.org should be the first place you check. Unfortunately they don't have the Z55, but the Z53 is listed (http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Lexmark-Z53).

If gimp-print doesn't work try something like hpijs or lj5grey (if it's black and white).
