I have an HP printer, smartcard reader, and palm pilot and they all were recognized by FC3. I did run into permission problems with the pilot since udev has taken over. I would expect FAT, NTFS, and Linux partitions would all work fine on a USB drive. If you run into problems where you can't write to the drive then you will have to add a new rule to udev. Do a search for udev and rules and you will find some topics on this forum about it.
