A snip from the Introduction:

MythTV is an open-source project, with its primary functionality being similar to that of TiVo, but with several way-cool add-ons and much greater flexibility.

If you've a TV capture card (see hardware section for a list of known-working cards), then you may be interested in setting this up.

Find it here:

Hi,

I installed mythtv following the how-to but now every time I try to watch tv I receive this:
Could not connect to the master backend server -- is it running?
Is the IP address set for it in the setup program correct?
On setup I leave the default configuration (IP 127.0.0.1).
I have no idea of what I should change.

Thanks,
Trek1701

If you only want a media box, install KnoppMyth (http://mysettopbox.tv/knoppmyth.html)

If you are looking for Fedora Core RPMs for mythtv, ATrpms (http://www.atrpms.net) has them. Here (http://www.atrpms.net/dist/fc6/mythtv/) are the RPMs for FC6. I would make sure you have a card that can record in mpeg format in hardware such as the Hauppauge PVR (http://www.hauppauge.com/) series of cards. Some of thses cards use the ivtv kernel modules (http://www.ivtvdriver.org/).
