I have several computers on my internal network and I can access them fine from either my laptop running FC3 or a new server I am setting up that is using FC3. I have a linksys router and my older versions of redhat can connect through it fine.

I also have a dlink wireless router that has a few ethernetw ports and when i conenct through that router (which then connects through the linksys to my cable modem, I can connect to the itnernet fine. I've disabled IPv6 (just to make sure) and I've even tried using DHCP from my router to setup teh network with the same result. It also seems like there is a firewall running on my FC3 machines that is dropping packets from my linksys router that don't originate in my internal network. I've disabled selinux... what I am confused about is this works going through my DLink router and older versions of linux work through the linksys (as well as several windows machiens)

What is going on with this?

To clarify, what was the problem? Connecting through the d-link that connected to the router which connected to the modem? And the local network works, but not the Internet?

Note that you're using two different brands of router here, which may cause confusion. Ideally only one router hands out IP addresses with DHCP. I am thinking d-link could just act as a wireless switch and not a router. Disable the router functions in the d-link if possible.

I haven't used this combination of hardware before so I'm not sure exactly what to do.

Sorry to be confusing, I wrote that after about 20 hours of frustration and a couple of reinstalls.
The problem is connecting through the linksys router that is hooked directly to my cable modem. The d-link is basically a client behind the linksys and the only reason I mentioned it was that by placing the FC3 machines behind that second router they connect to everything fine. I suspect the problem has it's roots somewhere with FC3 and the Linksys, though I can't imagine what because several other operating systems have worked fine behind the linksys, I've even been able to use ipsec through the linksys to use both my wife's work intranets and mine. The problem comes in when I install FC3 on a machine and try to connect to the internet (my intranet all seems to work fine).

FYI.. I'd still like to get to the root of the problem here but I had to find a solution and it was to buy a new router (Dlink) as my primary firewall. I maintain the other D-Link wireless router in it's same configuration to insulate my local network from novice wireless hackers in my neighborhood, makes it harder (definitely not impossible) for them to abuse my windows file shares and MP3 collection.

It probably had something to do with the gateway or DNS settings, or DHCP confusion.

Should be easier when you're using one brand of network gear, athough it would be nice if you did not have to.

i'd buy that it was a setting if i didn't have several machines working correctly ... i even cloned the settings to the new router .. but it works now and it only cost me 80 bucks to fix .. heh

thanks
