Is there a way to stop spam from reaching my server? Rules are in place to discard mail, but you will always get the traffic.

It depends...

I noticed a single IP repeatedly spamming users on my server, put in the firewall rule and bam not more spam from him.

If its from various sources, you should use spamassassin. If you use postfix you should look at amavisd-new, it is a mail scanner that integrates with spamamassisin and any virus scanner you have (I use ClamAV).

It seems that the message (which is from 3 email addresses from three different Domains) is being relayed on 3 - 5 servers including Blueyonder. Working on the firewall rule just now. Also looking into a service, provided by Message labs.
