Hi, i installed Fedora Core 3 on my Acer Travelmate 290 and everything worked flawlessly.
Sound works, the CPUspeed is altered by demand etc.

Just one Problem: the laptop gets seriously hot!
I often watch a movie or series before going to sleep and many times i'm not awake anymore to turn the laptop off.
When i was running windows the laptop was cool in the morning, not even warmer than the rest of the room, but with Fedora it's so hot that it scares me.
At first i thought maybe mplayer did some 100%cpu loop all night, but i then let it sit idely for half a day, no application started, and it also got this hot.

Any hints? :/

Is your fan intake opening on the bottom of your laptop? Maybe it's being blocked by the blankets. Would it be cooler if you put the laptop on a hard surface?
I bought a nifty product called Laidback Laptop - a laptop table designed for use in bed. It seems to keep my laptop running cooler. An added advantage: if you fell asleep and tried to roll over you'd wake up enough to shut your machine down.

maybye your speedsteep doenst work correctly...

(speedsteep = slows your centrino cpu down from 1500 to 600 mhz => less wattage and heat)

you can controll this by watching this file:

[test@localhost]# vi /proc/cpuinfo

processor : 0
vendor_id : GenuineIntel
cpu family : 6
model : 9
model name : Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1500MHz
stepping : 5
cpu MHz : 598.159 <- controll this!!!
cache size : 1024 KB
fdiv_bug : no
hlt_bug : no
f00f_bug : no
coma_bug : no
fpu : yes
fpu_exception : yes
cpuid level : 2
wp : yes
flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr mce cx8 mtrr pge mca cmov pat clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 tm pbe est tm2
bogomips : 1186.20

Try this...if you have problems then post your cpuinfo file....
