And this is actually a GOOD sort of "funny." For some time I've been looking for a PC keyboard that I don't find either very uncomfortable to use or too noisy. Much of the problem has to do with the "feel" of the keys, and doing as much typing as I do, a lot of hours with a cheaply made piece of junk kb can drive one batty. I've tried three over the past week or so, trying to find the right compliment for the Shuttle XPC I just built runinng FC2...with no luck.

On a lark I was cleaning my closet and noticed my old iMac keyboard sticking out of a pile of shoes. (ok, my closet is a zoo!!) I wondered...what if? What would be the worst that could happen, plugging it into the Shuttle....it wouldn't work...and if it did, well.

It did.

I am currently typing this on an Apple kb (with an Apple mouse) connected to a PC running FC 2. It's the best kb I have. Try that in Window$!

Believe it or not, I'm using a Microsoft "butterfly" keyboard. I had to switch from the normal "flat" layout because of the increased amount of typing I do. The difference in the angle of my wrists was almost flat out miraculous.

As I understand it for a while now PC accessories have been compatible with Macs. You can plug in a 2 button mouse if just one doesn't do it for you.

With USB devices this makes sense.

Speaking of Mac and PC keyboards, if I got to Best Buy and get one of those wireless optical mouses for my laptop, will the ones that say "works for Windows and MAC" on the box be able to work in FC3?

Probably, especially if it is of the plug and play variety and doesn't need special drivers. But that's hard to tell just looking at the box.

I would double check the return policy just in case.

I am using a Logitech Cordless Duo and it is working fine in Fedora Core 3, right from the installation procedures onwards. I hope that helps you.
