Good news it is supported in Linux Red Hat 9.0
http://www.linuxtested.com/results/velocity.html

I check on my FC3 for on my system and the driver is available on my system
locate velocity and see if it exist like below
/lib/modules/2.6.10-1.760_FC3/kernel/drivers/net/via-velocity.ko

I don't see it in your lsmod like--> via-velocity

try modprobe via-velocity

Do from terminal as root system-config-network and see if it is recognised
or else do new and follow step.
Success

i tried installing driver from the ABIT driver CD. i followed the instructions given. there is a velocityget files and rhinefet files. according to the instructions, i have to compile them but there are many errors with the codes in the files.

try modprobe via-velocity

it says.. FATAL : Module via_velocity not found.

when i typed modprobe via-rhine

it just return to #
nothing happened..

Do from terminal as root system-config-network and see if it is recognised
or else do new and follow step

i create new -> ethernet connection -> chose my network card -> auto obtain IP -> activate..

when it is determining the IP info for eth0, it says failed; no link present, check cable.
and i am very sure that my cable is connected and there is no problem with the internet connection as there are no problem when i use windows.

can you provide more pc specs?

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor
2800+
1.84GHz
