Here's a newbie question.
I got a HP photosmart 735 digital camera. I tried to import my pictures with gThumb, configuring my camera should be easy. It's in the list available.
But offcourse, just my luck, I get an error
An error occurred in the io-library ('Bad parameters'): Could not find USB device (vendor 0x3f0, product 0x6a02). Make sure this device is connected to the computer.

What am I doing wrong? Help wanted.

The camera is detected by fedora, there's an usb icon appearing on the desktop.

I'm assuming you've verified that it is plugged in.

What does opening that icon do?

i do the same what indeemvp says, also with a sony cybershot. This camera is NOT suppotred by gphoto,
but connecting to my pc results in a windows where i can browse to my photo's, on the camera.

Is your camera in USB-modus, or camera-modus?

can you show us your modprobe.conf?

Clicking the icon on the desktop opens nautilus. There I can browse to the map where the photos are stored on the camera. I can copy/past the pictures from it, but that takes a long time (128 mb SD-card with about 88 pictures at full res.).
I was hoping that gThumb could transfer it quicker.
In window$ transfering the pictures with the explorer is also slower then when I use the software provided by HP.

can you show us your modprobe.conf?

I'll have to search for that one

Thanks Evert, it was the camera modus :) Everything works great.
