Good day all!

I have an ATi Radeon 9600 pro that is working like a charm using FC3 except for one small problem.

TV out seems to work great (its cloning the desktop to my TV) but playing a video in MPlayer will only show the vid on my monitor and just a blue background on the TV.

I don't want to bugger around with the driver as I have finally got the thing working with 3d accelleration, I'm just wondering if theres something that needs to be tweaked in the config to fix this or if there is a keyboard shortcut to move the video over to the TV.

ATis documentation (as always) provided absolutley no help with this issue :(

Have you tried mplayer in fullscreen mode?

Yep, same problem, video displays on the Monitor but not on the TV.

I think it has something to do with the way it renders video, but I cant figure out how to tell it to use the other display when rendering video stuff :|

I saw this thing on a Windows machine. So it is not Linux only.

Yeah, well in Windows the driver supports a hotkey (alt-f5) where all video is passed to the TV (it just changed the display over to the TV and shuts off the monitor), but the driver doesnt seem to be configured that way in linux. I'm pretty sure its just configuration but as I mentioned ATis documentation isnt the best :( And I definatly don't want to run fglxrconfig (last time I did that it broke 3d).

Yep, same thing happens on my 9500 Pro, to get video to play on the tv, you have to use the TV only, and tell linux and your gfx card to display on the tv only, then it works. WHen you want to go back to regular computing, switch back to your monitor or dualhead. The only way to get video playback on a tv is to do tv only on the output, to my knowledge there is no way of getting it to play video on the tv in dualhead, I think it defaults to the monitor unless told to do otherwise.

Hope this helps

There is a util named ATI-fglrx configuration that allows modification of the monitor settings using a little gui. Unfortunatley it doesnt seem to actually apply the changes after restarting the server.

How were you changing the display mode for outputting video to your second screen?
