ok well here is goes.............
I just did a fresh install of Fedora Core 2.
I updated my yum.conf and ran yum update.
Then I rebooted into the new updated kernel 2.6.10-12-1fc2 I believe.
Exit X and ran the nvidia system installer.
Said it needed to compile for my new kernel so I did that.
It installed correctly no problem. It mentioned my rivafb module
but thats never been a problem before. Ive done this like 10 times before without any problems.
Now when I open an Open GL application (tux racer) I can hear the sound but the screen just stays blank.
what did I do wrong? here is my xorg.conf and my GLX output................
The nvidia splash screen comes up fine while booting.

I dont know if its related but im also having problems with tv time now as well. I wasnt before.
After about 5 minutes it will freeze up. I can still hear the sound but the video stops.
Also ut2004demo freezes at the screen with the nvidia logo.

One of the first things that I noticed, is your DRI section (module) that has not been commented out. Make sure you leave this commented out in your configs. I also am no expert, as far as video is concerned with Linux, however, I do also have an nVidia card, and the man pages do specify that this section should be commented out, or deleted altogether.
***EDIT*** Also, please let us know what version of drivers you are using.

One more thing, run glxgears and give us example framerates. GLXGears is NOT accurate, but if you only get 20-30fps in the standard window, this would tell us that your AGP module is not loading correctly.

thanx for the reply. I will run glx gears a little later.
Im using the latest drivers right of the nvidia website.
as far as commenting that "DRI" part out I thought I only had
to comment out Load "DRI" ????
Also maybe this will save me the time from running glx gears later.........
I ran the 3d box open gl screensaver and only got 30fps. I thought that was
really low.????
