Folks,

I upgraded to FC2 in April via a fresh install. Since then I have noticed that things are different all around. I have found answers to most things except this one.

HELP (or Yelp) doesn't have a feature that I used all the time uder FC1. The feature is "Index" from the main menu and toolbar.

Index would let me start typing the name of a linux command on the left - while it showed me a list of valid commands spelled the same below the entry area; I could then choose a comand from that list and have it's man or info page displayed in the its browser window on the right. The info displayed was basically all the man and info pages.

I can't find the same HELP browser in FC2. Is there something i can do to re-enable help ?

Maybe it wasn't yelp? All I know for sure is - if I pressed the "Help" icon (the one with the life raft symbol) on the normal gnome panel/menu - this program started up.

Anyone know how to tweak help to re-enable this feature ?

The new yelp in gnome 2.6 doesn't have this feature yet. People are working on it, and I've heard that this great feature will be back in yelp soon.

Thanks, man, info, and the tab key will have to suffice until it's ready.

I doubt it, not unless you use GNOME 2.4 instead of GNOME 2.6, but that's not worth it. Use the man and info commands in the terminal instead.

man grep

info man
