Looking for a cheap FC3 machine? Buy a used Xbox and install Fedora Core 3 on it.

Why bother with a used XBOX, when you can buy a brand new machine from Walmart for not much more (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=3380786). It comes with Xandros Linux pre-installed, but you can install your favorite distribution since the hardware is all Linux friendly.

Perhaps to save space, doing this with an Xbox does really make the mac mini irrelevant to anyone with a little bravery.

Maybe I will do this if the Xbox is rereleased in a small version, like the PS2. It's now far too big. It's huge, it probably doesn't even fit under my TV.

google for it but you need the ps2 hd bundle or buy playstation linux from sony.

oh, thanks for the tip, don't think I can be bothered. My PS2 is pretty much knackered, can't be bothered spending any money on it, I'll stick with my old PC ;)

i was thinking of doing this with debian, but looking at the horrible steps needed to get the os onto the xbox (and the fact that its a celeron 700 with 64mb ram!) i don't think it's worth shelling out $150 for the xbox....

Ok, FC3 on an Xbox. My Thinkpad 600E was $197+shipping off eBay, and it is running RH9.... why would anyone want to put FC3 on an Xbox? Fun hack maybe, but... well not terribly useful.

yeah i know what you mean .
i have so many copies of xbox linux's it crazy.
2 xdsls one xebian.
bt none are actually usefull.
so slow they are.
my sempron 2400 cost as much as my xbox and it many time faster.
stick to the pc imo. atleast untill the new xbox come.
