Ok, wasn't sure where to put this so I thought this forum would be best.

My PC setup is

- Fedora Core 3 with KDE desktop environment
- Hauppauge WinTV PCI-Radio Card
- On-board sound, realtek chip. The motherboard is a Gigabye 7VA
- Running TVTime

I can post other areas but I'm pretty sure that is the only relevant area. I have had a look around and on FC2 people advised to run gnome-alsamixer but I get a file not found when running this command on FC3. I have checked all the volume controls but I get nothing.

I am almost certain getting a new sound card would solve this as I have the sound on a line in I think.

I get ABSOLUTELY no sound (not even white noise or anything) when viewing the TV picture (which comes up fine, or rather did but I appear to have lost it now, probably my own fault).

Does anybody have any suggestions to resolving this?

Hi!

Maybe yuo'll find it funny but did you check you kmix / Input tab -> all are mute?

A suggestion...

Best regards

kmix / input tab - all were mute but now I've changed them I don't notice anything different. On a slightly positive note I have got the picture working again but still no sound.

Ah, found the problem I think. I typed alsamixer instead of gnome-alsamixer in the terminal and it came up. Line in is set on mute but I am a bit of a newbie to Fedora, and I don't have a clue how to change it.

Ok, I've sorted it now. The switch in Kmix was off for the line input.

Perfect!

Now... Don't stay to much in front of your TV, it's not good for your eyes :)

Best regards.
