unable to use my CdRw in the Fedora

I am unable to use my CdRw in the Fedora.
i am new to Fedora.
I am unable to get any sound from my speakers & and i cannot connect to the internet also i am having a SM56 motorola modem in the system .
So, Please explain in Detail, What could be the problem.
