i'm getting a printer (hopefully with scanning and copying options) in awhile here, and i was just wondering what other users experience with printers and other multifunction devices has been like. i've looked at this (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=28-102-138&DEPA=1), but not really much else. what are the brands that have good linux support? does anyone have a multifunction printer that does the scanning function in linux? thanks in advance for any advice.

I have a hp office 1150c, About 4 years old. Most new HP should work as well. I have my printer on a printer server and use the hpoj and saned services to access it. It can work as local printer copier scanner as well.

Configure hpoj is quite easy. At a terminal type ' ptal-init setup '.
Then using an app like Gimp and setup acquire should find the scanner.

This was one of the easiest things I every setup. Took more time finding info to use it over the network than it did to set it up.
