Hi,

I have asus a7n8x-e deluxe motherboard with the nforce2 ultra chip and when I try to install fedora, beginning by using

"boot: linux rescue"

the system boots up (from the Fedora Core 2 DVD ) and then displays a message

"nforce2: cable bits are not set in BIOS, trying a workaround",

it detects my first IDE hard disk as hda, the second IDE HDD as hdb, first IDE cdrom as hdc, second IDE cdrom as hdd.

Then it detects the SATA (I dont have any SATA drivers) and hangs trying to detect hde and hdg and brings an error code (I didnt catch the code).

Can anyone give me an idea on what bits I need to set in BIOS or any solution to this problem.

I appreciate any help

THanks

if you don't have s-ata drives, why don't you try to disable s-ata support in the bios?

1. let me correct myself.....i thought hadda wanted to install on a sata drive.

2. yes do disable the sata features in you mobo, my can do sata too but i disabled it also disable any raid controllers.
