View Full Version : Just a simple praise to the FC3 folks

Well linux has been a strange and rewarding journey for me...

I am basically just writing this to say thanks Fedora!!
I installed FC3 on my HP ZE1115 and it works fine (one minor DVD issue, but I may have that one licked).. I started out with Lycoris and thought WOW this one I can actually write a letter in...
Well.. then I tried Suse.. Cool, but didn't "feel" stable enough... Then I got a wild hair and decide that I'd give Fedora a try.. Since I have been seeing everyone building RPMS for it.. Why not.. I have nothing better to do..
Well needless to say that Fedora has served every need want and desire I have had for computing.. (Except Disney's ToonTown Online.. Evil Mouse)
So... After much thought and a few prayers to the big guy upstairs (No.. I don't live in an apartment.) I decide to make my main workhorse machine a dual boot..
I haven't regeted a single day since.. It automatically picked up on my devices and everything installed smoothly..
I had to tweak some things along the way, but in my opinion that is the beauty of linux you can tweak until your finger fall off.. Cause this is LINUX and not that other OS.. I have been bragging to my wife that (with the exception of ToonTown Online) I haven't had a need for M$ or their overpriced products..

So.. to conclude a long brain-fart..
Thanks RedHat or Fedora or whoever is responsible for bringing us a killer OS that is Freakin FREE!!!!

I'm also glad it worked for you.

As a system builder, you're free to include Fedora with your systems, if you want. Just a thought.

Glad it worked for you too man, I just found the solution to my music woes after reformating both my OSes; I can finally sit down and enjoy Linux. *Gets teary eyed*

well.. of course.. better handling than red hat 9... almost happy.. except for my VIA sound card - no sound.. hahaha.. i have longer uptime for RedHat/Fedora as compared to Mandrakes.. weird.. maybe my hardware can't withstand Mdk's interfaces.. heehee

But how about this guys, what can you say about Fedora/RedHat becoming to be "wind0ze-like" ?

its better then windows.. in windose you have PURCHASE programs that you can write a letter with, mount an ISO image, Burn a CD, Start a server, play games, etc..

I think that the windose-like "feel" just means that Linux as a whole is now mature enough for people of any experience level to use and enjoy.. IMHO
