I am kind of new to linux and I am getting an error with the cpuspeed service. I goggled cpuspeed and it seems to be mostly for laptops so they can save power, so since I have a desktop I would like to disable this feature but I am not sure how to enter a text mod so I can either rename or diable it...

so if some one either has a fix which would be the best idea, or if someone could tell me how to diable cpuspeed during the boot that would be great

thanks alot

Christopher

The simplest way (that I am aware off) is the chkconfig tool. You will need to be root to use it.
With it, you can see which services are set to start at which runlevel and of course, switch on/off services as needed.

The program chkcofig does sound like a great program and will definatlley do what I want it to do.

I still need to know how to stop the boot and be able to instal it and run it before the computer hangs at the cpuspeed. I am sure there is a way to do this... I guess what I am looking for is a keyboard shortcut like F8 or F12 is in the old days when dos was still a main part of windows.

thanks
