I notice that some threads contain numerous replies, sometimes people ask a question and they get no replies

I am wondering, is there a protocol to using the forum that someone may not understand?

I understand everyone is coming here voluntarily, and that we all have lives that exist outside of FedoraForums.

But I think maybe there should be some type of explanatory sticky that explains whatever the protocol is here.

Or am I just missing something?

I used to be a member of a biker forum, and they treated the newbies ruthlessly. Just because they didnt ask the question a certain way, or because the old-timers had "heard it all before", so they felt the question was not worthy of a response. But if an old-timer asked the exact same question, there would be hundreds of replies.

Many of us here are new, some of us have virtually no computer and are relying upon the more experienced users for answers.

I am not complaining, just asking in case there is something missing.

During the holidays most foks were pretty busy...we do have a guideline (a link is in my sig) that lays out the general rules.
Just be patient ...no one knows everything here...we all rely on each other...it can take a while to get a response.

The forum has a wonderfull search feature, google also searches this forum, as well as many others. If you ask a question that has been asked before, you will not get a reply. This forum also has a Guildlines page and a FAQ page, make sure you read those carefully.

Not entirely. I rarely get the chance to answer users questions these days. At one point I was practically a one-man support forum. Its all a matter of time on some of our behalves.

That was about a year ago. We are getting close to the forum's first anniversary. :)

I truely feel disappointed when a question goes unanswered.

The easy questions many times have the most replies because many people can answer them. Sometimes the question really hard and no one knows the answer.

Our fast growth has also put a bit of a strain on the regulars, Fedora "experts" with experience.

Your patience is appreciated as we strive to answer every question.

Speak for yourself, Jman - I don't answer Windows-related questions! That's mostly because I can't answer them, of course... :D
