I just installed fedora core 3 and cant get the sound to work. I have a soundblaster audigy and a creative emu-0404 installed on my system. Linux (other distros too) see the emu-0404 as a soundblaster audigy too, so I think this is where the problem lies. When I run sound card detection it sees them both as identical audigys. During the install I could hear sound from the audigy during the test but it was really faint. Now that I am running the machine I get nothing. I have checked all my mixer levels and everything is cranked up.
I just installed fedora over a Suse 9.2 distro which had no problems with the cards, so I know this config will work on linux. Any ideas? I cant yank the card because I use it for recording purposes when I boot to XP. I am just wondering if there is any way to tell fedora to totally ignore the second card, kind of like how you would disable a device in XP.
Please help...I need my mp3's :)
