Cannot mount my DVD/CD writer

I run in a dual-boot environent (WINDOWDS XP/FC3) and would like to be able to use my DVD/CD writer also under linux. the hardware browser finds the device:
Manufacturer: Hl-dt-st
Driver: non or built-in
Device: /dev/scd0
The model is a a LG GSA-5160D.

Where to I need to start?

that particular drive is not yet supported in linux as far as i've been able to find.
one of the unfortunate drawbacks to linux is that sometimes the latest/greatest/newest hardware is not immediately supported. and unfortunately, the dual layer drives seem to fall into that category. i wouldn't be surprised if it becomes supported before very much longer though.
