could someone explain what i'm not doing here.... i want to set up my old computer to be a gateway/firewall. I have an onboard ethernet, and i have a netcard. what do i need to do so my so my second computer can access the internet through the fedora computer...???
i can get internet throught both of my ethernet connections, so whats the next step to take.... do i need to search for the fedora computer with the windows one, or vice versa? any help would be appreciated

You have to set the Fedora computer up so that one interface is connected to the Internet (which you've got) and the other one has a "static" IP so that the Windows computer can "find" it. Then you need to set up the firewall, router, and masquerading. Then you connect your "static" IP network card to the Windows network card - it's best if you use a hub or switch, otherwise you start getting into how to make network cables (and that's a whole different matter).

There are lots and lots of excellent articles and HowTos on the web for doing this (Google is your friend). One tool that helps with the router/firewall/masquerading that I've heard a lot of good things about is Firestarter.
