I have installed core 2 on a 2nd hard drive and at the end of the "successful" installation a message appeaars: " No kernel packagees were installed on your system. Your boot loader configuration will not be changed"
The previous boot loader worked on redhat 7.2. I selected to install a new boot loader on the install process.
Trying the rescue mode I don't have any files for /boot/grub/stage1 or2, /grub/stage1 or2.

A new install that didn't install a kernel? Weird. Unless it was an upgrade?

You can try this older howto for how to reinstall grub. Basically boot into rescue mode and try grub-install.

The grub-install didn't work because there was no files w/ any grub names installed. I had tried 3 complete new installations and none worked.
After buying and installing additional ram the next installation worked. I don't know if that was the cause and solution or not.

What are you pc specs? I know your issue is solved but these days you need juice to run some OS in other words good cpu and ram (512mb at least). Thats me.
